How to choose cost-effective brass tubes?
Although brass tubes are not expensive, they are used in almost every mold processing factory. So how to choose the cost-effective tubes is an issue that every factory needs to consider.
Brass tubes, as a kind of electrode materials, used for EDM high-speed perforation processing. Compared with the copper electrode tubes, they add about 35% zinc on the basis of copper, which makes it higher hardness and wear resistance. The length ranges from 150mm to1000mm (common lengths are: 400mm, 500mm), the diameter ranges from ø0.10mm to ø6.0mm (common diameters are: ø0.3-ø3.0mm), the types of the inner hole are: single hole, multi-hole (double hole, Y hole), etc.
Features of brass tubes:
1. High hardness and resistance to electrical corrosion: Compared with copper electrode tubes, brass tubes contain about 35% zinc, so they have higher hardness and resistance to electrical corrosion. This makes ourbrass tubesnot easy to bend and have a longer service life when processing materials such as Cr12 and Skd11;
2. Electrical conductivity: The resistivity of brass (at 20°C) is 0.071Ω·mm2/m, which has good electrical conductivity, so it can effectively transfer discharge energy during the EDM process;
3. Thermal conductivity: The thermal conductivity of brass is 108.9/(m.k), which has good thermal conductivity. There is a through hole in the middle of the brass electrode tube, and the electric discharge machining fluid flows through it, which helps to quickly transfer heat during electric discharge machining and reduce high temperature dissolution of brass electrode tubes;
4. Low loss: Because it contains about 35% zinc, brass has better electrical corrosion resistance than copper and can resist its own loss under high-temperature discharge conditions;
5. Outer diameter tolerance: The outer diameter tolerance of brass tube is controlled within -0.02mm, which is suitable for high-precision processing applications, such as micro-hole processing, small structure processing, etc.
Use of brass tubes:
1. Brass tube is suitable for processing steel (Cr12, SKD-11), titanium, aluminum, graphite and conductive materials with low hardness;
2. The difference between single hole and multi-hole (double hole, Y hole): There is no difference in material between single-hole brass tube and multi-hole brass tube. The single-hole brass tube has low cost, relatively large loss, and relatively slow drilling speed; the multi-hole brass tube has high cost, while the drilling speed is faster, the loss is smaller, and the hole diameter is more accurate than single hole;
3. Brass tube has smooth inner and outer surfaces, no clogging and easy water leakage.
Our brass tube is a commonly used electrode material in EDM processing. It has the characteristics of good conductivity, high hardness, wear resistance and low loss. It is widely used in mold manufacturing, micro-hole processing, arc surface processing, Medical device manufacturing requires high-precision, large-thickness, and long-term processing applications.
