Daily maintenance of CNC wire cut EDM machines

Routine maintenance and upkeep of machine tools play a significant role in extending their lifespan.

Daily work requirements

Fully understand the structural performance of the machine tool and master the operating skills of the machine tool, and abide by the operating regulations and safety production system.

Do processing within the allowable specifications of the machine tool, and do not work with overweight or over-travel.

Clean up the work area after work, wipe the fixtures and accessories, etc.

Regular maintenance

According to the lubrication parts and lubrication requirements specified in the operation manual of the machine tool, inject the specified lubricating oil or grease regularly to ensure the flexible operation of the mechanism.

Regularly check whether the electrical equipment of the machine tool is damp, safe and reliable, and remove dust to prevent metal objects from falling into people, and work with faults is not allowed.

Low speed wire cut electrical discharge machines generally must check the wear of the power feed contacts after processing for 50-100 hours, and consider changing the position of the power feed contact or replacing it. When it is dirty, it needs to be cleaned with detergent. It must be noted: when changing the position of the power feed contact or replacing the conductive block, the verticality of the wire electrode must be re-calibrated to ensure the accuracy and surface quality of the workpiece.

Regularly check whether the rotation of the guide wheel is flexible, and there must be no jamming, otherwise the guide wheel and bearing should be replaced. After replacement, the amount of radial runout must be checked.

Regularly check the damage and dirtiness of the upper and lower water nozzles. When there is dirt, it needs to be removed with washing liquid, and when it is damaged, it should be replaced in time.

Before processing, check whether the working fluid in the working fluid tank is sufficient, and whether the pipes and nozzles are unobstructed. The EDM filter needs to be replaced when the working fluid flows in the reverse direction from the dirty fluid tank to the clear fluid tank.
